Getir faces lawsuits over $4M in unpaid rent in NYC
Delivery company allegedly left landlords high and dry after pulling out of U.S. market
Turkish-based last-mile delivery service Getir faces multiple lawsuits for unpaid rent after closing up shop earlier this year and exiting the U.S. and European markets, according to a story in the New York Post.
Getir allegedly owes nearly $4 million in rent at nine locations in New York and left some of the locations with years remaining on their leases, according to the report.
The story notes that Getir faces the following allegations:
Owes $283,000 in rent and bills at its former East 40th Street location
Owes $100,000 in rent at its former East 74th Street location
Owes more than $550,000 at a former Brooklyn Heights location
Owes $88,000 in rent at its former West 35th Street retail location where it has $950,442 in remaining lease obligations
The delivery company settled a lawsuit earlier this month with a landlord in East Harlem that Getir allegedly owed $1.5 million.
